Shortage of Medications for Persons With Developmental Disabilties Remains Unaddressed

diazepam tableteThe state of emergency in FBiH brought on even more problems for persons with developmental disabilities. They often depend on others for their well-being and health, but the state neglected to support them through these special circumstances. The shortage of medications used to keep epilepsy under control has persisted for almost 50 days now. The medications in question are Diazepam clisma (5 and 10 mg) and Clonazepam (0.2 and 2 mg).

420,000 BAM for Supporting Businesses Owned by Marginalized Women

USAID PPMG Online potpisivanje ugovoraUSAID’s Marginalized Populations Support Activity, in cooperation with nine local self-government units in BiH formed a Fund for Supporting Businesses Owned by Marginalized Women. The total amount available in the Fund is approximately 420,000 BAM, provided in equal amounts by the USAID and local communities.

Mirela Dedić is a young woman from Dubrave Gornje near Živinice, who proves that it’s still possible to make a living in agriculture and turn a hobby and family farm into a full-fledged business.

Families of Children With Developmental Disabilities Not Recognized in Measures Issued by Crisis Management Committee

Dajte nam šansu SOS mobilni timoviChildren with developmental disabilities in BiH do not receive adequate care even under normal circumstances, and the state of emergency declared in response to the coronavirus pandemic marginalized them further. Organizations and alliances on the front lines of the fight for the rights of families of children with disabilities are now facing even bigger obstacles in their work. Still, there are some bright spots like the Service Center for supporting families of children with developmental disabilities “Dajte nam šansu” from Sarajevo.
